Barn History:
The farm was purchased by Charles and Anna Oberly in 1850 and the barn was built in 1852. The barn was used as a milking barn until 1974, when the cows were moved to another one of the family farms that had been purchased by the present owner and his father, Ellsworth Oberly, in 1956. The barn has since been used for storing hay and straw and to house dry cows and heifers in the winter.
Seven generations of Oberly's have lived on this farm, which was presented a Century Farm Award in 1984 by the New Jersey Agricultural Society.
The present owner (Cliff Oberly) and his son, Barry, farm the 130 acres and raise Herford and Angus steers.
