Quilt: WIND-SUN QUILT BLOCK
Owners: "Forever Green Farm"
Roseann & Josephine Greenberg 17 Iron Bridge Road Chesterfield, NJ 08501
Farm & Barn History:
The farm has been in the Greenberg family for 24 years. Albert & Josephine Greenberg and Roseann Greenberg bought the farm from the estate of Charles Bakos on August 1, 1986. The barn was built in the fall of 1986. It is a 50' X 100' pole barn, steel sided, with a 25' X 100' leanoff.
The barn was originally used to store equipment and hay. During the 90's, hay was no longer produced on the farm, and the barn was used to dry flowers. Currently, it is used to store equipment and as a shop for building projects, such as painting barn quilts, making monsters for haunted hay rides, and building sets for theatrical productions.
In 1990, the farm was named as a "Preserved Farm." In 2003, the Greenbergs installed a 10-Kilowatt wind turbine to generate their own electricity, and over the 2009-10 winter, they added a 35-Kilowatt solar system.
Making of the Barn Quilt:
The Greenberg's barn quilt combines the Blazing Sun pattern with the Clay's Choice pattern, to represent the sun and the wind. The farm's name is "Forever Green Farm" - with the wind turbine and solar system, they are truly a green farm.
The Greenberg farm is the first preserved farm in New Jersey to go GREEN with renewable energy.
